What is the difference between Live Access Sync and a User Sync in Cakewalk?

They sound similar but do different jobs:

  • User Sync = who exists in your company

  • Access Sync (a.k.a. Live Access Sync) = who has access to what inside each app

User Sync keeps Cakewalk's User overview aligned with your HRIS or IdP. It imports name, email, and manager data, runs every 2 hours, and powers JML automation, approvals, and RBAC. → Settings → Data Sources → Users

Access Sync pulls user access and permission levels directly from your connected apps (Figma, Looker, Notion, etc.) into App Governance. It runs daily (or on-demand), is additive only, and powers Access Reviews, shadow access detection, and NHI visibility. → App Governance → Select app → Users table → Sync Users
