What do permissions on applications mean?

Last updated: November 26, 2025

Permissions in Cakewalk describe the type or scope of access a user has to a third-party application. For example, a user might have Admin, Editor or Viewer permissions depending on their role. Permissions are used to:

  • Provide a clear overview of who can do what within a third-party app

  • Support granular access reviews and approvals

  • Flag users with elevated access for closer governance

Permissions can be customized to reflect your organization’s terminology and mapped to access types specific to each application.
