What does Cakewalk’s application statuses mean?
Last updated: November 26, 2025
Cakewalk uses application statuses to indicate how each app is managed:
Discovered: The app has been discovered through either the Browser Extension picking up its usage or from the import of SSO apps from the IdP.
Managed: The app is actively governed. This means access changes follow defined approval workflows, app owners are assigned, and activities are logged.
Ignored: Used for applications that do not have any bearing to the organization. Marking an app as ignored prevents further access being tracked by the Cakewalk browser extension.
Tracked: The app is visible in Cakewalk, and user access is monitored, but no actions (like provisioning or approvals) are enforced.
Restricted: The app is against company policy for use and has been marked as restricted. Users who access a restricted app will see a notification appear informing them the app is restricted. Should they proceed to use the restricted app, Cakewalk admins will be notified.
Archived: The app is no longer in use. It’s hidden from regular workflows but retained for audit and historical reference.
These statuses help teams prioritize governance efforts and maintain a clear, auditable view of their software landscape.
