What are default apps on Cakewalk?
Last updated: July 7, 2026
Default apps are applications that are automatically assigned to users when they join a specific user group in Cakewalk.
For example, you can set Notion and Slack as default apps for the "All Employees" group. Every new team member will automatically receive access to these tools.
What happens to existing group members?
Adding a default app to a group that already has members applies to those members too. Cakewalk generates a "Grant access" request for every existing member who does not already have the app. Members who already have it are skipped, members being offboarded are excluded, and existing permission levels stay unchanged.
Before you save, Cakewalk shows how many "Grant access" requests it will create for existing members and lets you create them or skip them. This applies whether the app provisions through Agent Cake or your IdP.
